Frequently asked questions.

Does the Tax Agency approve or certify Verifactu programs?

No. The Spanish Tax Agency does not certify or approve invoicing software. Each vendor signs a statement of compliance in which it declares that a specific version of its program meets the regulation on invoicing computer systems. That is why we link each program’s statement with its version and date.

Since when is it mandatory?

Royal Decree-law 15/2025 postponed the obligation. For those who pay Corporate Income Tax, from 1 January 2027. For everyone else, self-employed included, from 1 July 2027. The dates have already changed more than once: check them with the Tax Agency.

What is the difference between a VERI*FACTU system and one that is not?

A VERI*FACTU system sends each invoicing record to the Tax Agency as it happens. One that is not keeps them itself, and has to sign them electronically and store them. Both comply if their statement of compliance says so.

How do I avoid a scam?

Be wary of anyone selling a “Tax Agency certificate” or an “approved” program: that certificate does not exist. Ask for the statement of compliance, and check that it names the version you use and that it is dated.
